Terms of Use

These terms describe the use of DuoLock, including accounts, shared offline sessions, and Together Pass subscriptions. They supplement the applicable terms of the store where you download or purchase the app.

1. Provider and Scope

The provider is:

Jonas Becker
Einzelunternehmen
Hauptstraße 95c
30916 Isernhagen
Germany
Email: hello@duolock.app

These terms cover the website at duolock.app and the DuoLock apps for iOS and Android, including Couple, Friends, and Family. They become part of your contract only where they are brought to your attention and validly agreed in the relevant registration or purchase flow. Visiting this website alone does not mean that you accept a contract or any later changes to these terms.

The terms of Apple or Google also apply to downloads, purchases, and payments through their stores. For iOS, the Apple Standard EULA applies to the app licence unless a valid custom licence agreement is provided. These terms do not replace the applicable store terms or limit your mandatory consumer rights.

Personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. DuoLock does not sell personal data and the apps do not include advertising SDKs.

2. Account and Eligibility

Depending on your platform and app version, you can sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Available registration and sign-in methods are shown in the app. You must be at least 13 years old. DuoLock is not made for children under 13. Where local law requires a parent or guardian's consent to use the service or make a purchase, you need that consent.

Keep your account secure and do not share passwords or sign-in codes. Joining a group or connecting with another person does not give them control of your device. Participation in a session follows the consent and confirmation steps shown on your own device.

3. The Service

DuoLock helps couples, friends, and families start consent-based offline sessions. Each person decides on their own phone. The apps and distractions you select stay on your device and are not shown to other participants.

App blocking is local. DuoLock does not remotely control another person's device. Another person cannot activate app blocking on your phone without your consent and the required local setup. You can end a local pause yourself: on iPhone, with Unlock Early in DuoLock or by revoking DuoLock's Screen Time permission in iOS Settings; on Android, by stopping local app blocking in DuoLock or by disabling the DuoLock service in Android Accessibility settings.

The apps share only what a session needs in order to run together, such as who is taking part, readiness, duration, and when it starts or ends. DuoLock does not read screen contents or messages, and it does not store or share which apps you open. A notification is not a guarantee that a local pause has started.

The website explains DuoLock and gives you a way to contact us. What you can do depends on the platform, the app version, and the permissions you grant on your device.

4. Together Pass and Subscriptions

Together Pass is an optional paid subscription where offered in the app. The purchase screen describes the included features, billing period, full price, and any introductory offer before you buy. Features and offers can depend on your platform and app version. Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play; DuoLock does not receive your credit-card number.

Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically for the selected billing period unless cancelled. If a free trial is offered and you are eligible, its duration and the price after the trial are shown before purchase. Unless cancelled in time, the trial becomes a paid subscription and the store charges the disclosed price. Your store account shows your next billing date and current terms.

Manage or cancel your subscription in the store account used to buy it: Apple subscription settings or Google Play subscriptions. Follow the cancellation timing shown by that store. Apple advises cancelling a free or discounted trial at least 24 hours before it ends. Cancellation normally stops the next renewal; any right to immediate cancellation or a refund remains unaffected.

Deleting the app or your DuoLock account does not cancel a subscription. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account. To avoid further charges, cancel through the store separately.

For refunds or withdrawal from a purchase, use the process provided by the store where you bought the subscription. Your statutory withdrawal, refund, and other consumer rights remain unaffected. If you need help, contact hello@duolock.app.

5. Acceptable Use

Use DuoLock for shared offline time with people who agree to take part. You must not:

6. Intellectual Property

DuoLock, including the name, the apps, the website, and the text and visuals we provide, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the website and apps for that purpose. They do not transfer ownership to you.

You keep the rights in material you submit, such as your display name and an optional profile photo. You allow DuoLock to host and show that material as needed to run the service, including to people you connect with. Private reflections stay on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Availability and Your Statutory Rights

Local app blocking depends on your device, operating system, and the permissions you grant. An internet connection may be needed to coordinate sessions or verify subscription access. Technical interruptions can occur; a notification alone does not confirm that blocking has started on another device.

Your statutory rights concerning defects, required updates, withdrawal, refunds, and damages remain unaffected. Liability is governed by applicable law. These terms do not exclude or limit mandatory rights or liability.

8. Ending Use and Deleting Your Account

You can stop using DuoLock at any time. You can ask for your account to be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy and on the Support page. Email hello@duolock.app with the subject “DuoLock Account Deletion.” Do not send your password.

We may suspend or end access if you materially break these terms. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first. We may act without prior notice when that is needed to protect other people or the service.

Ending your account does not cancel a Together Pass subscription. Cancel it separately in the store where you bought it. Any statutory claims, including claims concerning a paid subscription, remain unaffected by ending your account.

9. Changes to These Terms

This page shows the current version and its date. Publishing a new version does not automatically change an existing contract. If a contractual change is proposed, we will inform you and obtain agreement where required by law. Continued use alone does not constitute consent to a change. Statutory requirements for changes to digital services and subscriptions remain unaffected.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

German law applies, without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you also keep the protection of mandatory rules of the country where you live.

I am neither willing nor obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
